Tanya Lita Chalimonczyk Memorial Garden

The Tanya Lita Chalimonczyk Memorial Garden is dedicated to the memory of a NDSU alumna that passed away in 2020. Tanya graduated from NDSU with a horticulture degree in 1978 and continued her gardening journey in Colorado where she volunteered as an Extension Master Gardener in Larimer County. Her family is sponsoring this garden to honor her memory. The new garden, which was dedicated on July 28, 2023, embodies Tanya’s passion for ornamental horticulture, community education, and the Extension Master Gardener Program. The theme of the memorial garden is the Perennial Plant Association Plant of the Year Award Winners dating back to 1990. The Association honors one perennial plant each year that stands out from the competition and is able to thrive in a wide range of climates. The award-winning plant must be low maintenance, have multiple seasons of interest and be relatively insect and disease free. The garden will continue to grow as new award winners are added each year.
