Pollinator Garden

NDSU engages in research to identify the best plants to nourish bees, butterflies and other beneficial insects. The pollinator garden includes many flowering plants that provide pollen and/or nectar for insects. The garden includes a mix of native plants as well as ornamentals. Previous research focused on native and ornamental species and cultivars within four genera: Baptisia (false indigo), Monarda (bee balm), Hylotelephium (tall sedums), and Symphotrichum (asters). Other plants include Asclepias (milkweed), Salvia, Liatris (blazing stars), and Eupatorium (Joe Pye weed).
