All-America Selections (AAS) is a non-profit organization that was founded in 1932 as a way for home gardeners to learn about new and improved flower and vegetable cultivars. The organization tests annual flowers and vegetables all across the country in different climates and soils. Top-rated cultivars are deemed to be All-America Selections winners. The NDSU Horticulture Research and Demonstration Gardens are an AAS official display garden.
A collection of AAS flower cultivars is planted in a separate bed west of the annual flower trials. Winners from the current year plus the previous five years are planted in an attractive landscape setting.
